To further reinforce its market-leading position in the industrial equipment business, Shumani has appointed Shaun Morton as Operations Director. Morton, who has been in the industry since 1996, brings with him a wealth of experience in order to help steer the Shumani business to greater heights.
A strong management team, that understands the business, is as important as the product or service a company offers. With that in mind, leading industrial equipment supplier, Shumani, has appointed Shaun Morton, who possesses many years of experience in the industry, as its Operations Director.
In his new role, which became effective on the 01st November 2018, Morton, who is working closely with Managing Director, Victor Nemukula, has been tasked to further accelerate the only 51%
black-owned industrial equipment supplier’s business growth.
“My role entails managing the operations of the business, working closely with the Managing Director in setting and accomplishing goals that promote company growth. I will also oversee the sales functions of the business nationally,” says Morton, adding that his major and immediate task is to put strategies in place to grow the bottom line.
He is also in quest of increased efficiency within the sales functions of the business. “We seek to grow both the sales team’s complement and their sales numbers. We currently have a team of three external sales people, a Sales Manager and a National Key Accounts Manager. I will work closely with them in order to achieve our objective to further grow our sales,” says Morton.
Morton joins Shumani from Goscor Lift Truck Company (GLTC), where he was the National Rental Director at the time of his departure. Morton, who holds a National Diploma in Production Business Management, has been in the forklift business since 1996. He was introduced to the industry by his father, who, when he joined the family business operated a fleet of eighteen rental forklifts.
Way back in 2010 Morton joined the Goscor family following the merger of his previous company, MPM Forklifts with GLTC. Morton started off as the General Manager. Backed by his proven expertise in the materials handling equipment industry, Morton went on to set GLTC’s Rental/Used division on a sustainable growth path.
Morton says some of the winning formulas he will take with him from Goscor Rental Company to Shumani, include team work and efficiency. “By working together as a team, we can achieve more, and it is important to find solutions that work best for the growth of the business. Efficiency is a quality that I believe will take us further forward. It is about removing obstacles to productivity, deploying talent strategically and building a culture of accountability,” says Morton.
Morton joins Shumani at a time in which the business has seen exciting growth during the past three years. In these three years of its existence, Shumani has established itself as a force to be reckoned with in the South African industrial equipment space.
