One-stop-shop for all equipment sales and rental requirements
Shumani Industrial Equipment’s business model sets a new “one-stop-shop’ era with its holistic range of industrial equipment products and services. Shumani is the only supplier that, from under one roof, can offer forklifts and material handling equipment; cleaning equipment; access equipment; compact construction equipment; engines, generators and agricultural equipment; as well as compressed air solutions.
Shumani represents leading international brands across various sectors. Through its distributorship agreement with the Goscor Group, the company distributes Crown, Doosan, Bendi and Hubtex (forklifts and materials handling equipment); Bobcat and Sany (construction & earthmoving); Tennant, Elgin, Maer, Delfin, Kaivac and HighPoint industrial vacuums (industrial cleaning equipment); HPower, Weima, Meiwa, Rato and CSM (plant & power equipment); Genie (aerial lift equipment); Sullair and Ozen (compressed air solutions), among many others.
Shumani is also a distributor of Kalmar Equipment, a leading global provider of cargo handling solutions and services to ports, terminals, distribution centres and heavy industries.
Convenience is one of the many reasons why today’s equipment buyers prefer to purchase goods and services from a ‘one-stop-shop’. Instead of having to go to multiple businesses, they can just go to one location for all of their needs. Apart from convenience, dealing with a single supplier for a whole range of equipment needs means faster turnaround times for increased uptime.
Apart from the extensive product range, Shumani also offers a comprehensive scope of services, all the way from outright purchases and short and long-term rentals (Bobcat equipment & forklifts), to full maintenance leases and full technical support.
The business model is informed by the understanding that in today’s operating conditions, suppliers of equipment must be able to offer different solutions to suit different needs of varying customer groups. For example, the dilemma of buying versus renting often arises when equipment needs are in question. There are pros and cons to each, and there is no right or wrong in these options, but a one-stop-shop supplier can be able to not only to advise what suits the customer, but to offer the right solution.
Personalised service (no red tape)
At Shumani, we understand that personalisation of customer service is the route to establishing trust and confidence with our customers, which in turn leads to repeat business, loyalty and brand advocacy from them.
Customer needs vary due to the different circumstances in which they operate, hence they cannot be served with a ‘one size fits all’ approach. In today’s operating conditions, customers have progressed – they are now more involved, have a wider knowledge base and are unwilling to compromise their set standards. At Shumani, we understand these parameters and our service regime is tailored to suit each customer’s needs.
As a young business, we clearly understand how the ‘corporate culture’ may be detrimental to customer experience. The company culture is usually where brand promises are kept – or broken. It is for these reasons that we don’t have any bureaucratic processes as far as the provision of our service is concerned. Decisions are made quickly and timely as downtime for our customers is out of question.
Young, dynamic team
As a young company, we are of the view that it’s important, now more than ever, to embrace and explore the benefits that a young team can bring to business. We have a young team of dynamic individuals who have brought a fresh perspective and a different way of thinking to the business.
At a time when the industry is getting to grips with the ‘Fourth Industrial Revolution’, characterised by fast-paced technological progress combined with other demographic changes, the young workforce is eager to learn, build their experience and apply their skills in the business.
Younger people are better equipped to respond to these sudden changes. This can be of great benefit, especially in the shifting landscape of the modern day workplaces where process, technology and priorities are constantly changing. This enthusiasm is great for team building, productivity and workplace moral, but more importantly for greater customer experience.
Blue-chip client base
In the three years of its existence, Shumani has established itself as a force to be reckoned with in the South African industrial equipment space. Testimony to this a long list of some major blue-chip clients, including Coca Cola South Africa, AB In-Bev, Bell Equipment, Maxion Wheels, EnviroServ, Imperial, Transnet, Mechanical Assembly Product South Africa, Famous Brands, Bevcan, Multotec, American Embassy, Mpact Operations and GRE Investment, among others.
In the past three years, we have achieved genuine customer success stories with these big brands, which has had an incredible brand building effect for Shumani, allowing the company to cut through competition and validating our offering in the marketplace.
98% proven track record of uptime
Shumani has a large installed base of 800 machines currently in service for Coca-Cola South Africa and SAB across South Africa. A key point of note is that we have a 98% proven track record of uptime on this large fleet. This has been made possible by an unparalleled aftersales service regime.
The company employs a total of 21 technicians to look after these machines. This is complemented by 16 admin staff working across several of its branches in all the major industrial hubs, including Durban, Upington, Port Elizabeth, East London, Johannesburg, Polokwane, Bloemfontein and Cape Town.
Level 2 B-BBEE
Shumani is the only 51% black-owned and managed business in the industrial equipment supply chain. In order for a business to thrive in this day and age in South Africa, adhering to the B-BBEE Act and codes is vital.
Our B-BBEE rating can offer huge benefits to other companies that do business with us. Benefits of being compliant include the ability to actively participate within the preferential procurement policy of government, qualifying to tender for contracts with governmental bodies and a competitive edge over other competitors in the industry.
